George Morriss

Mr. Morriss joined Berkshire Capital as an Advisory Director in 2009 and will support the firm’s asset management industry practice.  He will assist Berkshire Capital’s transaction execution and business development efforts across the firm’s practice areas.  George was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at People’s Bank, Bridgeport, Connecticut.  He was responsible for all accounting, treasury, investment portfolio and capital market activities.  Additionally, he managed mergers and acquisitions, investor relations and asset and liability functions.

George began his career in 1970 with Girard Bank in Philadelphia as a portfolio manager in the Trust Department.  In 1975, he moved to Girard’s investment management subsidiary, Studley Shupert, where he was responsible for portfolio management activities.  In 1979, he joined Connecticut National Bank as the senior trust investment officer.

He received his BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Temple University. George is a director/trustee of the Neuberger Berman Mutual Funds.  He chairs the closed-end fund committee, is the vice-chair of the audit committee and is a member of the portfolio pricing and transaction committee.  He is also a member of the board of managers of the Old Mutual funds of hedge funds.  He was a member of the NASDAQ Issuers’ Affairs Committee and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Hartford CFA Society. 

Andrew Martin Smith

Mr. Martin Smith joined Berkshire Capital in 2000 and became an Advisory Director in 2005. He is based in London and focuses on the development of Berkshire Capital's business in the U.K. and Europe and on the execution of assignments for international and domestic U.K. clients.

Andrew was formerly Chief Executive of Hambros Fund Management PLC and an Executive Director of Hambros Bank Limited. Prior to his appointment as head of Hambros Fund Management, he was head of the mergers and acquisitions unit at Hambros from 1985 to 1993. He began his career as an investment manager with Allied Hambro before being seconded to work in Canada for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in 1980.

Andrew's past directorships of fund management concerns include Investec Guinness Flight, Hambros Hopkins in Australia and San Paolo Fondi s.p.a. in Italy. He is a director of the Atlantis Japan Growth Fund Limited, as well as a trustee of several private funds. Andrew earned a BA in Politics and Economics at Exeter College, Oxford.
